MACRO was initially founded in 2009 by medical colleagues in Beverly Hills - a dermatologist and a plastic surgeon – equally passionate about performing high-quality research within their respective fields. MACRO’s history is encoded in our name, which originally served as an acronym for “Multispecialty Aesthetic Clinical Research Organization”, the company’s title on inception.
After building a successful portfolio of FDA and investigator-initiated (IIT) research in the fields of aesthetics, dermatology and plastic surgery, MACRO was approached by independent physicians across multiple specialties, all of whom had opportunities to be principal investigators (PIs), but did not have the infrastructure to support this research.
MACRO took this opportunity to apply our unique, progressive, transparent research paradigm to independent physicians, and the sponsors & CROs that sought them out as PIs, to perform research without the associated administrative and regulatory headaches. We coined the term “Site Optimization Organization” (“SOO”) to highlight our core values of efficiency, quality and seamlessness, with investments in the best-in-class technology as our backbone.
With the mission to change the culture of clinical research, and an eye toward an increasingly cloud-based research paradigm, we continue to evolve to incorporate best practices in clinical trial optimization.
